    Wiper Override Switch Assy finishes

While it's out of the car I figured I'd repaint the bracket and clean up the override assy from under the steering column. I saw no description of the finishes in the TIM&JG. It would appear that the metal bracket is gloss black (from what's left of the paint on mine). Is this correct? Also, I have 2 different washers on the pull knobs for the wiper door / headlight door overrides. What is the original factory finish supposed to be? One of mine is rusted (shiney where it was covered up). The other one with a larger center hole is shiney unfinished silver metal. I think that's probably a replacment one but I don't know for sure. Also, are the 2 screws black oxide? Again, mine are quite rusty. Do the 2 vacuum switchs and the center knob assy look original? Obviously someone was in here before for some reason since that washer is a replacement one - I'm curious if something failed and one of these parts are replacements or if the washer was just lost when the steering column was out for rebuilding (I didn't do that work myself). But from those colored daubs on the vac lines I figure those are originals since those marks appear on a lot of original vac parts, but I really don't know for sure. To those of you with originals or who know what is / isn't original, what do you have? Thanks, ~Juliet

Re: Wiper Override Switch Assy finishes

Hello Juliet, in my 70 the bracket is semigloss black as other hard parts in the interior (black interior). Good that you have the big knob.

            Thanks! Washer Finish?

Thanks Roberto. That's good to hear. What color are the washers under the cross recess screws on your '70? Should mine be natural metal or black or something else? ~Juliet

                Re: Thanks! Washer Finish?

One of the washers I found was natural, I beleive it is the original, Juliet. It looks like the one in your photo. The other was different and clearly a replacement, apparently a previous owner in your country made a quick fix using any washer.
