1960: Dash Indicator Backplates and Console Trim

    Hi folks... two questions:

    1) How are the Dash Indicator Backplates (Lights, Lighter, etc. indicator plates) attached to the gage housing behind the swithches? Adhesive?

    2) I just received a new Upper Center Console Trim piece. My car was missing this part, and the holes have been filled. The part I received is shaped to fit "around" the console, however it's flat. Do I need to bend/form this piece of trim to conform to the shape of the console?

    Thanks for the help.

The backplates are held in place by the respective trim rings or retainer rings (wipers and headlight) that screw on the front. The lighter backplate is installed at the time the element is assembled I believe. Don't know if this is the best or correct way to affix the lighter backplate, but I made a thin cut through the bottom of the lighter backplate and then gently slipped it over the lighter element shaft. The cut is not visible from the front and the backplate holds tight to the lighter element.

The console trim piece should shaped to wrap around the console. If you want me to measure the locations of the holes from my 1960, send me an e-mail.
