Can anybody help me? I have refitted my fuel injection system. Car ran nice straight off but was only running for a short time. After car turned off would not restart. Fuel meter stripped and cleaned. Diaphrams appear OK. Housings trued up. Spill valve and mechanism checked - clean and appear to be OK. Next day car started no problems, ran crisp and clean with open throttle, but will not idle. Car floods itself to death and then will not restart. Idle screwed up and car still runs rough with gradual loading to point of flooding. Quick rev clears this and it happens again. After flooding car will not restart.

How old is the CSV?
It sounds like your cranking signal valve isn't working.
If it's over 5 years old, I would just replace it. The little diaphragm stiffens with age.
If it's relatively new, you can test it first by installing a hose (connecting the tubing from the main diaphragm tee) long enough to pinch off while the car is idling. If the flooding stops, you know the reason.
I am suspicious of any NOS cranking signal valve. They are too old for me to trust. The reproductions sold by Jim Thorpe and John DeGregory are good. I've never gotten a bad one from them.- Top
