I have an '81 Vette which has 92,000 miles on it that I purchased from a kid desperate for money several years ago. My wife and I have always wanted a '80-'82 and I am currently repairing/restoring it as time permits. I work on airplanes so I figured an 80's model car couldn't be to difficult, right? Wrong! Brakes, suspension, stuff like that I can handle, but I've got some system malfunctions, cut wires, and missing parts that have me really perplexed. A perfect example--my windshield wipers just stopped working(a relay under the cargo box just buzzes). The only thing I could think of was to replace the wiper motor(after checking the fuse of course). Not only did the motor not fix the problem, I noticed the washer reservior is missing and there is apparently no washer pump installed. I want to learn the operation of every system on my car but but have nothing to guide me. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME AND LET ME KNOW WHERE TO FIND THE INFORMATION I NEED? THANKS FOR THE EAR!

Re: Problems with my 1981 Vette
Brad, just about the best thing for you to do to get to know your '81 Corvette for you to work on and repair it is to purchase the '81 AIM(Assembly Instruction Manual) and a '66 to '82 Corvette Shop Manual. These are available through NCRS at a cost of $17.00 and $22.00(member price-nonmember a few dollars more). With these books you should be able to see and find out your "missing pieces" and also service problems. Paul Borowski- Top
