    Mid year dash refurbishment

    Re: Mid year dash refurbishment

I just finished repainting mine. I did it in place after removing gage cluster, glove box, and dash pads. I made sure to mask off the windshield and area under/behind the dash. I used several sheets of brown paper to prevent overspray.
I did mime using the Krylon semi-flat black paint. Mine turned out pretty well considering I just used spray cans. Much better than before I started. I image an airbrush would even give better results.

You may want to consider removing the center section of the dash. If you have allready removed the dash cluster, glove box and pads it's not that much work to take out the fibreglass center section. Remove the metal windshield molding under it are the fastners that hold the top in place. Drill out the 5 rivits in each door opening and out it will come. I had mine out this past winter. I'm sure the results will be much better. Also the dash pads are much easier to install out of the car. Some of the fastening clips are hard to reach if the dash is in place. The entire unit will fit in with the pads in place.
