    power antenna removal 1966 roadster

I can't seem to find an article in the encyclopedia giving step by step process to remove power antenna in a 1966 roadster. Any help would be appreciated. Tahnks. Ed Sullivan memebr # 30327.

I seem to recall a Tech Service Bulletin that describes removing the rear exhaust valence and left exhaust pipe (for non-sidepipe cars); even easier if you have your spare tire carrier out.

Well Ed,lets see.First,I think it may be possible to snake your hand up in there, but I havent done one with underneath exaust lately. If not you will have to follow the first posters directions.Second, take the top nut off(with the antenna shaft all the way down if possible). Then take the cable off the side and remove the bottom bolt. The ground strap is attached at the bottom with the bottom bolt.If the memory is working at all the bottom bolt is a 7/16 size. Then move the antenna around and bring it out. This may be the reason for taking the exaust off as its got to be diffucult to snake the antenna by.Maybe just loosening the exaust at both the front and rear and twisting it as far as you can.Not sure on this point.Hope this helps............Bill S

Ed -- I found it (Better late than never) it's described in Chev Service News, June '66, and reprinted in the "RESTORER" Vol 10, # 3, winter '84. Lists 12 steps and includes a drawing.
