    67 Coupe door reassembly

    Gents
I need some advice as to which assembly gets installed first for example 1) vent window assy 2)Power window motor assy 3) glass 4)rear track, at this point the door is empty. The car has power windows.

As always thanks for your input

    Re: 67 Coupe door reassembly

    Myles,

I suggest 1. installing the vent window assembly 2. put the rear track in, but don't attach yet 3. glass (now you can attach the rear track) 4. power window motor.

Make sure you have the front and rear bumpers installed. As long as it is all apart I would also replace the outer window seals, replace the rear track felts, make sure the long and short window channels are clean and straightened before greasing, replace the front felts and the upper felts. Also I would remove the door handle and clean and polish and replace the o-ring on the release buttons and then new gaskets. Might as well take out the latch mechanism and go thru it too. There can can be quite alot of crud after 35 years.

    My $.02 Good luck,
    Don

Thanks for your .02 Don, a couple more questions if I may
1)What type of grease is recommended - Lithium ?
2)The harness for the power motors looks pretty short is there a secret ?
3)Do you know the correct position for the coil spring ?

I have already de-greased and relubed and reinstalled the latches ,also have all the new felts for the tracks.

        Thanks for sharing your Knowledge

            Myles,

The AIM calls for part no. 9985060 a Zinc Oxide grease. I have used a hiquality bearing grease, but lithium should work well.

I don't recall the dirction of the spring, and I don't want to give any incorrect advice about it.

The power connector, for up and down, should reach, as should the ground wire. If needed, try releasing the conduit assembly from the door thru the slot in the door hinge pillar and see if the wilres can be pulled thr a little further. But remember, it reached before disassembly.
