Hello all,
My 77 has an aftermarket "open element" air filter on it. The original air cleaner assembly and emissions controls have been removed (including the A.I.R pump). I can't help but think that puting on an "open element" assembly was a bad move. I mean, yes it moves more air, but the air it moves is hot, engine compartment air, not the cold(er) air that the factory assembly was pulling. My question is this:
Is this open element air filter a better setup, and if not, what can I do to get cold air into the carb? I have thought about the LPE dual cold air intake setup for C5 vettes and then custom building an air cleaner assembly to accept the C5 air intake. Might be too much work, and I don't know if it would fit.
Your general or specific comments would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
