    Correct 61 Heater Hoses

Could someone tell me who makes the most correct heater hoses for my 61? Also are these hoses supposed to have the GM logo on them? Are they ribbed? Thanks, Craig NCRS#36551

    Re: Correct 61 Heater Hoses

Craig, DR Rebuild sells a nice set of hoses. The outside diameter is closer to original making it easier to install the corbin clamps. I fought a set of CC hoses for 3 hours one night trying to get the clamp on the manifold nipple before I gave up. The Doctors hoses were a good .070" smaller on the 3/4 and almost .050" smaller on the 5/8 hose. This doesnt sound like much, but it makes all the difference in the world. The Doctor will sell you either type with GM logo or not, but I belive that logo's were not used on C1 cars. Yes the hoses he sells are ribbed and are accepted as correct. In reality there were several hose vendors to GM and each one probably marked his hoses differently. John

Geoffrey, I know that you go out of your way to not represent any of your parts as "correct" for judging purposes, but was just saying that ribs are generally accepted at this time as consistent with the original factory supplied hoses.
Your hoses are, without a doubt, closer to the original hoses in outside diameter then some of your competitors. John

John, I thank you once again

Thanks not only for your enthusiastic personal endorsement, but also for pointing out your experience and the consequence of having an inappropriately sized heater hose product. When that occurs, you often have other problems.

I personally did the same yesterday with regard to the 1968 to 1982 Corvette vacuum hoses, but the management deleted the thread. Perhaps you have more pull. I prefer to get the message across with graphic detail, and bluntly. Perhaps I will use more scientific terms and put my lab coat back on next.
