I am at a point where I am looking at pulling the gas tank from the car and wondered if there are any tips on this job. I have the cover off and the lines removed but have not taken the straps off. I recall hearing that this job is not always as easy as it looks. Thanks, Eric

Re: Fuel tank removal and resto for 62
If you have it, the "53-62 Corvette Servicing Guide" (otherwise known as the "ST-12") describes very clearly (and with photos showing the exact method of orienting the tank during extraction) how to remove and replace the tank. If you don't have the ST-12, Corvette Central sells them for $25.00 (all the other guys get $60+ for it). It's also available from NCRS-Cincinnati, but I don't have a "Driveline" handy to check the price.- Top

Re: Fuel tank removal and resto for 62
Thanks John, I have an ST-12 that I bought through NCRS - If I remember right it was about $17. I will refer to that to take it out. My biggest problem was with the captive nuts breaking loose. I think I have it covered now. Thanks for the reference. Eric- Top
