Any tips on checking my temp guage? I have an aftermarket guage installes underdash for now, but really want the original one to work. It seems to move with the key on, but nothing close to a reading. I've tried new senders and the wiring is new, any thoughts??? Thanks!!!

Re: C1 - Temp Guage
If gauge is working properly, exercise it. Substitute wiring from gauge to sender with a test lead that includes an in-series 50-ohm resistor and connect the opposite side of the test lead (after resistor) to ground. Gauge should move up-scale 'almost' to the overheat region. Original temp senders were non-linear variable resistors whose high end asymptote converged to 40-ohms.
If she doesn't budge, problem is most likely in the gauge with either a burnt (open) inductor or high-friction mechanical movement bearing....- Top
