This question is just to satisfy my curiousity more than anything else. The vast majority of the 58-60 two tone cars I've seen have the entire area inside the cove trim painted a single color. But I've also seen several cars with the forward most portion of the cove, the part that curves out ahead of the spears painted the same color as the rest of the body with just the indented portion of the cove painted the alternate color. Did GM provide any cars with the area inside the cove trim painted two different colors?

Re: C1 Two Tone Color
Bob, I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that all the partial painted coves are repaints, or otherwise not typical of factory production. I too have seen numerous cars painted this way, but I have never seen any reference to this paint scheme in any of the offical literature.- Top

Re: C1 Two Tone Color
Thanks Ed.
That's my suspecion too but, if anyone has anything definative, I'd like to hear about it. For some reason, that paint scheme is growing on me. I saw a picture of a red/white '61 in an ad for some event somewhere that had the two color coves and it looked really good to me. Since my '60 is already red/white, well..., you just never know- Top
