I came into an "022" master cylinder. Here's the info: 5456022 casting number, SMALL "022". Beneath that is 1" DIA., the foundry snowflake, and D5, the mold number. BUT to the left of the 1" DIA. there is a casting date. That date is in fact cast, not stamped. The "date" was mounted at the foundry with 2 slotted screws. That date is "317". I didn't think these things were dated. The JG's do not mention a date. It also has the small font "0880" metal cap. The end plug is correct, 5454480 320-G. What is it? Is it March 1, 1957, 67, ??? Any input appreciated. Thanks. Chuck

Re: Odd "022" Master Cylinder
Chuck,
I have two small 022's I did over this winter. Both are the same as yours, meaning they have D2 and D8 stamped, one has 315 between the slotted screws and the second has a number between the screws but is unreadable due to an over anxious bead blaster. Both have the 1" DIA and the snowflake. 315 seems to be a funny date for an 022. Lets see if others can help.- Top
