    Re: Alignment pin size?

I think we've resolved that the hole in the side cover and maincase is an alignment pin hole. You guys are great.
Now does anyone know the correct size that this pin should be. I know it should be an interference fit in the maincase but does someone know the length and diameter is thousands of an inch?? Is this a part I can purchase somewhere?

These pins were never a GM SERVICE item. However, I think that you can easily make one up from a piece of the appropriate diameter weldable steel rod. My recollection is that the pin is 1/8", but it might be a bit larger. Just measure the hole and obtain a rod of that diameter. As far as length goes, all you need to do is to measure the depth of the holes in the case flange and the cover flange. Add the 2 together and that's how long the pin needs to be.
