I want to put a coating on my exhaust manifolds while on the car. They are lightly rusted. Sould i use the manifold dressing that brushes on and then bakes when you run the car? I don't want to take them off yet to do it right.

Re: coating exhaust manifold while on car
I did mine on the car I used sand paper 150 grit and a small wire brush to clean them. then used a toothbrush to dress them. I also jacked up the car and did the under sides of the manifolds. then started the car and let it bake
did this last winter and they look great. try not to touch the manifolds even after the bake. the dressing doesnt come off, but your hands get all black.

Coating exhaust manifold while on car
A few years ago I painted my exhaust manifolds with an anti-rust coating/remover. Sorry do not have the name of the product other then it was from England. I dried to a dull dark grey and never has changed. No mess or rubbing off.- Top
