Re: To rivet, or not to rivet- one of the issues t

Mike what I did not say about Bairs revitting the rear disc to the spindle is that it would also be trued by them to insure the min runout. I cannot comment on other facilities that I have not used.
I can also say that the biggest Chevy dealership in Dallas, Texas back in 1972 sure didn't know how to work on 70 Corvettes when it came time to replace a rear wheel bearing in my 70. When I got the car back it had no rivets and it had runout. Because I could not go to this board in 72 for the expertise you all offer I had numerous experiences of air in the rear calipers. Took the car to "Corvette Shops", trued discs and the story goes on with the same problem until I did it myself finally. I sent my rear spindles and discs to Bairs about 14-15 years ago to have them rivetted and trued. Best money I had spent since I bought the car new. I only wished I had known to have this done in 72.
I don't dissagree with what you are saying about rivets not being the answer by themselves. I have two other Corvettes that came from the factory without rivets holding the discs to the spindle and have no runout problem with them.
