    Light Bulb Trade Number Specs

There was a question posted last week regarding differences in C2 instrument panel bulbs 1816 and 1893....

There is a difference, albeit slight. Both are "T-3" style (no relation to GM headlights of the same name); 1/4" bulb; and Mini-Bayonet type. The 1816 is 13 volts, .33 amp and 4.2 watts. The 1893 is 14 volts, .33 amp and 4.6 watts.

Anyone needing technical information regarding auto bulbs (by trade number) can find it at "www.lamptech.com", in their product section, under automotive.

Thanks John, I did a closer inspection with a magnifying glass and couldn't see a difference. Thanks

        What about the Candle Power?

There was a discussion about that brightness factor last week. If I remember my lessons correctly, in the girls dormitory it was lights out at 10 and candles out at 11.

John you should join Vetteheads, Noland just did. We discuss all things Corvette and even newsworthy events at the National Camel Riders Society.

            Re: Candlepower (one word)

Candlepower (USA) is the luminous intensity, in a given direction, of a source that emits monochromatic radiation of frequency 540 x 1012 hertz and that has a radiant intensity in that direction of 1/683 watt per steradian.

John, you really gotta join Vetteheads. We discuss lots more than candles. The ever changing BoD, whose in, whose out, all the stuff you never hear about and cannot discuss here. Its a real Corvette history channel. I think dues are only $20. No judging though.
