There are three threaded holes forming a triangle surrounding the forward freeze plug on the left side of the engine block. What are these for? I have a small coolant leak (one drop every 30 seconds or so) coming from the forward upper hole.

I think that what you are referring to are the motor mount mounting holes. These holes are unused on C1 Corvettes, but are used on 1958+ passenger car applications of the same block castings as well as all 63-82 Corvettes.
The problem is, I don't know why there would be any leakage from one of the holes. These mounting holes are drilled and tapped in bosses which extend from the side surface of the block and do not go through to the cooling jacket. It's possible that there is a crack, though. It's also possible that what you're thinking is a leak emanating from the threaded mounting hole is actually coming from the freeze plug. Sometimes small leaks will follow circuitous leak paths.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

The area I'm talking about is clearly shown in Nolan's book on page 286 in the upper right hand picture. However...
Upon closer inspection and after mopping up the puddle, I agree, I don't think the coolant is coming from the boss area. It's definately not the freeze plug because the coolant is dripping from the boss above the plug. I dried everything off, then ran a paper towel around and found it was wet at the outboard, forward corner of the head/engine block. Maybe a blown head gasket?
Have you ever heard that using ether (is that how you spell it?) starting fluid aerosol could cause a blown head gasket? Someone told me that after I tried unsuccessfully to get the car to start after the engine had been setting up for over a year.
It turns out I had a rebuilt fuel pump with the check valves backwards that was trying to fill the fuel tank from the carb.- Top
