    59 sidewindow bottom weatherstrip

    Hi Guys,

I'm after the magic method of fitting the weatherstrip that goes between the glass and the base channel that screws to the stainless glass suround.

I am having trouble getting the glass into the weatherstrip at the same time as the weatherstrip into the channel.

I've tried a few types of lubricant but it is extreamly tight and I am afraid of breaking the glass.

Any help will as always, be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Mark.

Mark, I always just use a little silicone grease and beat the lower channell on with a ruber hammer. John

        John,

When I try to press the chanell onto the glass one edge of the rubber gets squashed back up into the chanel so do I fit the rubber onto the glass first and then push the channel over the rubber?

        Thanks for you reply,

        Mark.

You are exactly right, put the rubber on the glass first then grease the channel with silicone grease and drive it on. John

                P.S.

Don't try to drive the whole length on at once, get one end started and work to the other end. John

                    Thanks John,

The job is done, but I was too worried about hitting the chanell with too much force as the nearest replacement glass is thousands on miles and hundreds of dollars away so after trying for quite awhile I ended up prying open the gap on the chanels a touch which made the job much easier.

                    Thanks for the help,

                    Mark.

                            Yes John,

Parts are a touch difficult to come by, and with the exchange rate combined with freight and taxes you can be sure that they don't come cheap but one thing's for sure, I won't ever be caught up in a crowd of C-1's around here!

                            Thanks again for the help,

                            Mark.
