Maybe Joe Lucia can help? Some guy on ebay is auctioning off a new pair of these needles. The box looks new style but does not show the part number. Are these still avaliable from GM? I tried to look them up this morning along with my parts guy but no luck. Thanks Thad

Re: 68-74 tach- speedo needles
Thad-----
Most instrument and radio repair parts were never available through regular GM parts channels. They were supplied to independent instrument repair shops and AC-Delco Authorized Instrument Repair centers through some sort of "secondary" parts distribution system which GM operates. I don't know if these parts come out of regular GM parts warehouses or not. I know that they will not be found in P&A Catalogs or price schedules. However, the parts are supplied in "contemporary" GM or Delco parts boxes.
Most of the instrument repair parts are no longer available through GM or AC-Delco inasmuch as The Delco Electronics Division, which was the last GM internal manufacturer of the parts, is now part of DELPHI and has discontinued producing these parts.
I don't know, for sure, if these needles are discontinued, or not. But, I suspect that they are discontinued. Just in case, I bought some of them from "that guy on eBay".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Thanks Joe!
Speedo/tach needles (pointers) are available through independent AC-Delco/United Delco speedometer shops, but it'll be what a given shop has left as old stock. Our shop in Denver has a few sets for various years. But, the Catch-22 is they ain't cheap running something like $40 apiece for Shark era pointers. They ARE being reproduced and the reproduction price is much less. Last, if the pointer gets swapped out, you need to have the speedo/tach recalibrated since subtle differences in pointer weight affect guage accuracy.- Top
