        OEM stamping on balance weights

        Loren,

When you say "stamped/molded" do you mean stamped into the weight or do you mean embossed (raised) above the surface of the background? Also, when you say OEM, do you mean the letters "OEM" or do you mean the letters "GM"? Or something else? All of the ones I've seen in junk yards have embossed (raised) letters & numbers.

The "MICRON" embossing that I described in my first posting is from an image I was sent of a 1968 wheel. I really don't know if MICRON was used in '66, but I do know that MICRON shows up a lot at the junk yards, but now typically with english and metric units.

        Thanks,

        Gary

            Pictures of the weights

are available and I just dug them out - unfortunately, the photographer (me) didn't get close enough - I'll try and blow it tomorrow. If worse comes to worse, the tire is still available here in town and I'll go try again.

The spare from my '66 BB coupe, March '66 build, uses a "MICRON" wheel weight. By all indications, this is the original spare (Laredo) that came with the car.

                        Photo for Restorer *TL*

If someone can send me a good photo of a mid-year wheel weight I would be pleased to publish it. I can get a image of a 1970-1972 easily. I wouldn't be surprised that they are the same, or maybe similar.
