I purchased an original, unrestored '66 BB smog pump, complete with original hoses and correctly dated clamps, all in excellent condition. The diverter valve came with the system, and is stamped 26294. On the same surface there are raised cast identifiers including "MADE IN USA," "RP," AND "GM."
My question is that the # stamped on the valve is different than what the judging manual calls for. I was told by an early Corvette smog afficianodo (Don Dorfman), that a different valve was used on early BB smog cars, then were switched to a different unit (the one in the judging manual I think.
Can anyone confirm that this is or is not the correct diverter valve?
Thanks,
Dan Pepper
