    C3 Rear Spring

How much of an arch should there be in a stock rear leaf spring for a 1969 Coupe? It has a 427/400 and 4-speed. (Measured on the car not loose and unsprung.) I'm trying to determine if mine should be replaced or not.
    Thanks,
    Chuck W.

The best way to determine if the spring is serviceable is to install new link cushions, verify that you have the correct link bolts, then measure the "D" dimension, which should be in your AIM and CSM.

Does the spring show any arch in the car?

        Chuck,

Does the spring show any positive arch as it is? Or is it either completely flat or bent past being flat? Is it a 9-leaf? Or do you have the F41 suspension and the heavy duty spring?

The spring it the standard 9 leaf. It looks flat with no arch at all.

if you are able you might try to take a small straight edge, say a 12" ruler to ensure that it is flat. The nine leaf springs should have some arch in them. When I first checked my 72 visually it appeared flat but with a 12" metal ruler against it, there was definetly a slight arch to it.
