How many 1955 Corvettes did they make?

If any are left, I would like to examine one. They seem cute.

    Geoffrey-----

According to GM's records, there were 700 of these things made. Since a surplus of cars was, apparently, produced in the 1954 model year, production was adjusted heavily downward for 1955. Basically, the 55 model was the same as the 53-54, except for the fact that virtually all 55s were the new 265 cid V-8. Some folks erroneously think that, for the 1955 model year, V-8s were rare. However, the opposite is true. V-8s were, by far, the most common and 1955 6 cylinders were rare. Only about 20, or so, were produced.

Other significant differences for 1955 included more color options, a 3 speed manual transmission available (late V-8 only) and a standard 12 V electrical system (but, for V-8s only; 6 cylinder models still got the 6 volt system).

    So, if you've seen a 53-54, then you've pretty much seen a 55.

I'll bet that there are at least one or two still left out there. Actually, I see one or two pop up for sale in Corvette and Chevy Trader fairly regularly.

You should buy a copy of the 53-55 Registry

There are over 1500 53-55's registered, and will probably be more when the 6th edition comes out next winter.
