As i send this response, i am waiting for a local shop to put my drive shaft back in the car. The spicer dealer here told me i would have to bring down the shaft to make sure he could give me the right one. I told him that i could not ty up the shops hoist. I bought a set of non greasable heavy duty u joints from an auto parts store, and guess what, they were wrong. I then drove down to the spicer dealer and had them press in the CORRECT u joints. (OLD ONES WERE ALSO WRONG)tHE COST WAS $48 for the ujoints and the pressing in. Yes they are non greasable and look a whole lot more heavy duty than anything i have seen. Just a note, if you have an H pipe put in your exhaust, they will need to cut it to get your drive shaft out.the correct size is a 1330 series. for my 71 BB speed.

Re: Universal Joints
Jeff-----
I don't understand all of this confusion over which u-joints were needed for your application. ALL 1971-79 Corvettes used the same driveshaft u-joints. There were no exceptions, so there should be no uncertainty. What was the Spicer part number for the u-joints which were installed. 1330 is merely the SERIES, not the part number. Also, was the Spicer dealer unable to cross-reference the GM part numbers that I provided? Those are the exact GM part required; I'm absolutely certain of that. It should be easily cross-referenceable.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Universal Joints
joe, I had talked to my local parts guy before i got your response and he had ordered them before i got your info. The spicer guy had no problem. your part number was 5-229 and the current number he gave me started with a 6-229 i think. My bill does not list the u joint number, but i have driven it home and it feels great, I had a small vibration before that is since gone. Thanks for the spicer advice- Top
