Just reread what my previous msg said, I meant to say I drilled out the broken bolt and installed heli-coils.
Just to reaffirm another area not to use easy outs are the two screws that retain the outside mirror as installed on my 70. I was able to remove one broken screw with a easy out but I broke the easy out on the second screw. It was a task that I attempted and quit on several times and just drove without a mirror. I did finally drill out this screw/easy out tip and just tapped it to the original size. The metal that the mirror bracket screws go into is not thick enough to use a heli-coil.
