Hello. I`m starting my search for a used differential cover for our `75 and just wondering if the cover would have a part# and where it would be located. Thanks for any help.

The cover for your 75 should be GM casting #3871375. This number will appear on the rear surface of the cover; you can't miss it.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -

Brian, as Joe mentions, these are cast on the rear area of the cover. Also, they were date coded I believe starting in 1968 or so, and this date will be cast on the flange which bolts the cover to the differential carrier asm near the oil fill plug, if you care about the date aspect. I have found these covers to be plentiful at swap meets such as Carlisle and Bloomington, but I expect you can buy them from vaious suppliers that sell rear end assemblies such as Bairs, Van Steel, Ikerds, etc. I bought a couple last year at the big swaps in the $40 $50 range...look for one that has not had excessive corrosion from salt etc. They clean up very well in a bead blast cabinet...CraigComment
