I just finsihed buffing my windshield with the compound for cleaning glass I bought at a swap meet. When I was done I took it outside and freaked out. You can see the pattern in which I cleaned it. There are rows of circular very light scratches over the whole windshield. What should I do? I used buffing pad that was about the size of a fifty cent piece on a drill. How can I get these out. There was really never any heat generated while buffing. I sprayed the windshield with water then I put compound down into a light paste. Going in small sections I buffed and then put long stokes the length of the windshield. Any help on solution would be appreciated.

Re: Windshield "Buffing" Scratch Removal
I have had limited success using a powder called "jeweler's rouge". I bought it from a local auto glass shop. If you can feel the scratches with your fingernail, it probably won't work. Place the powder on the defect and add a small amount of water to form a paste. Make a cotton cloth pad and rub and rub and rub. It may not work but its worth a try. I would not use a power buffer.- Top

Re: Windshield "Buffing" Scratch Removal
Eastwood sells a windshield polishing kit that consists of a hard wool pad that fits in an electric drill and a polishing compound. It works great for minor scratches but the process takes forever.- Top
