I intend on changing out my wheels this weeekend. I have 2 sets of rally wheels and I need to find out where on the wheels I check for "codes" or "dates" so I can the closest set for my car (early 69", 12/10/69). Thanks in advance. Steve

Re: Rally Wheels
Steve:
There is a book called "Chevrolet By the Numbers" that is a great reference for decoding date and part number stampings on Chevrolet parts ranging from water pumps to wheels.
I do remember some specifics though, because I just sold a set of '69 rims on eBay. The date code of the finished wheel is stamped with some of the code to the left and some to the right of the air filler thingamajigger.
You'll see a "K - 1 - y n" format to the left:
K = Kelsey Hayes
1 = Manufacturing plant I think...
y = year (8 = 1968, 9 = 1969)
n = month (1=Jan to 12=Dec)
You'll see a "mm AZ" formatted stamping on the right:
mm = day of the month
AZ = Corvette Rally Wheel
On the back of the wheel (the side not showing with the wheel on the car) along the inside of the rim, you should see a "15 x 8 JJ" stamp which means, of course a 15 x 8 wheel, and the JJ means 1969 Corvette. I'm not sure what dates are right for your car, but you'd probably be safe with anything a few months before your car's build date - someone else could probably give you better info here.
