I would like to replace (or restore) the rocker moldings on my 1970 coupe. The NOS moldings advertised on ebay or Hemmings don't seem to have the mounting tabs that mine have. Is this a factory vs replacement part difference? Which years had the tabs? Thanks

Re: 70 rocker moldings
Scott-----
The rocker moldings used in PRODUCTION for 1970 to 1977 Corvettes were different than those sold in SERVICE. The moldings used in PRODUCTION for ALL 1970 to 77 Corvettes were GM #3966607 and 3966608. I believe that these are the ones with the "tabs". In SERVICE, the moldings available from 1970 until fairly recently, were GM #3977623 and 3977624. I believe that these are the ones without the "tabs".
The PRODUCTION GM #3966607 and 3966608 moldings were NEVER available in SERVICE and the 3977623 and 3977624 moldings were NEVER used in PRODUCTION.
This is a very unusual situation as far as GM parts go. What the reason for it is, I do not know.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 70 rocker moldings
On a different note about these moldings, the 70 AIM shows some square nuts in the back for the side screws. Do the central screws use the same square nut or a welded nut?
