My midyear roadster's firewall insulation is crappy. I see CC sells the repro. stuff amd those rubber fastners. Anyone had any experience doing this project ? Any tips ?

Re: Midyear firewall insulation
I installed the CC insulation several years ago on my 65 roadster. Unfortunately, it was long after I had put the dash, instruments and glovebox back into the car, but I was able to install all but two pieces as supplied. Those two pieces were the one which surrounds the fusebox area, and the section through which the steering column goes. Mine is not a stock "NCRS" car, but a driver, so I simply slit the insulation to fit those areas. It installed simply with spray contact adhesive (wear a mask!!!), and trial fitting (more for knowing exactly where it's going vice whether it will fit--the CC die cuts I found were very accurate) is recommended. Good luck!- Top

Re: Midyear firewall insulation
I couldn't comment on a difference in cockpit temperatures...I live in the "Great White North", and installed the insulation before I had really used the car during warmer summer months. I will say that it contributed to a quieter cockpit (at least with the top up), and that may have been one of the reasons for the insulation from the factory (in addition to heat barrier).- Top
