71 Air Cleaner Stud, Q Jet

Anyone know if the stud for a 71 LS5 car is all one diameter or does it have an increase in diameter about a fourth of the way up?

The one in my car is incorrect. It is all one diameter and threaded top to bottom. I have another one that is threaded only on the ends but is all one diameter. I have a ZIP catalog that shows a picture of yet another one (AC-42) that is threaded on the ends but shows an unthreaded section with a wider diameter. The AIM shows a stud that has a nut on it. Thanks.

    Joe-----

The carburetor air cleaner stud is all one diameter and that diameter is 1/4". I have seen these in at least 2 configurations. One configuration is all-thread with a cone-shaped top for wing nut centering. Another configuration is about an inch of thread on the lower end, then an unthreaded portion of about 3/4"-1", then more 1/4-20 thread with a cone-shaped top for wing nut centering.

When installed on the car, only the upper threaded portion is visible. So, I don't know that it really matters what's below the visible portion. However, a section enlarged beyond 1/4" could not be below the visible as it would not fit down into the orifice on the carb air horn.

the one with a larger diameter in the middle is for a holley carb,a positve stop against the carb.the Q jets are as joe posted.
