Can anyone tell me the proper finish on the wiper blade holder and arm for a Dec 65 car? Also, anyone know where I can find some?

Re: Early 1966 Wiper Blades
My early Oct. car has shiny finish, flat style blades. I can't remember the finish on the arms -will have to check it again. I am wondering about the shiny flat blades on early 66 - the flat style is correct for early cars, and MAYBE some early cars had the shiny finish on the blades.- Top

Re: Early 1966 Wiper Blades
Everett - This is one of those "trick" questions. One would expect with the '66 model year, the windshield wiper blade holders and the arms to have the brushed or dull finsish to eliminate potential reflections to the driver. We all know that there was some carry over from '65 in that the rod part of the wiper arm on early cars was polished rather that dull. I'm pretty sure Noland's book discusses that subject. But to the best of my knowledge, there is no discussion of '65 polished holders being installed at the factory as a carry over to early '66 production. Without such supporting evidence or if perhaps one owned the car since dirt and documented it, the fact of the matter is that '66 car should of had dull finshed windshield wiper blade holders, so if it, an early '66, came with polished windshield wiper holders some supporting evidence would be needed, otherwise we're at the mercy of the AIM. Another point, is that many '65, '66, and '67 Corvettes and other Chevrolet products came with ANCO wiper blades assemblies which were essentially non-serviceable, so TRICOs with refills were generally the answer and who checked back then it be sure they had the dull finish? So, if you ended up with ones with a bright finish and parts guys says here's what we have, you bought them, installed them, and headed down the highway. And here we are 35 years later trying to figure out the puzzle. Pete- Top
