    C2 Lower ball joints

    All,
I've been reading the many notes on lower replacement ball joints. If I read correctly....the ball joints that are available are "significantly different" than originals and it would be a waste to get them riveted in because they would receive little or no points in judging. Does anyone out there have a picture of and original lower ball joint that I could compare to the aftermarket ones so I know what the concerns are? I scoured my service manuals and catalogs and Nolan Adams and Dobbins books for pictures and found nothing substantial.
    Thanks for any help.

    Steve------

I don't have a picture to send, but I can tell you that every aftermarket-type replacement ball joint that I have seen is configured significantly different than the originals. Configuration differences include the forged socket of the joints, the seal and method of attachment, and the extension found on the end of original studs, but not on aftermarket replacements. Overall, these replacement ball studs can be discerned at a glance. There is NO ball joint on the market that I am aware of that is configured anything like the originals. It's as simple as that.
