i recently purchased a rear-view mirror (early design) for my january 3rd. 1963 produced split window coupe. (vin. # 6099). upon inspecting the mirror, i noticed that the part number on the botton reads P-3821956-C1 while noland adams claims that the number should be 3821350. the glass is dated 10DMI2 (october 1962), and everything else appears to be original. can anyone shed some light on this discrepency?? thanks again, dean p.

Re: 63 exterior rear-view mirror
I believe you are looking at the casting number on the bottom of the mount. That is the number for the mount itself, each component of the mirror would have an individual part number and then the assembly of mirror head, glass, and base would have an assembly number that would be used by the St louis plant to order the assembly. I would bet that Noland is referring to the assembly number. It generally is not on the part itself.- Top

Re: one more question
Dean, Those mirrors ,I believe, are crimped in. Otherwise you can't just soak the mirror in lac. thinner to remove it. There are a couple of vendors that re-do mirrors. They will know how, although they probably won't tell you how to do it. I would do an exchange with one of them.- Top
