Pardon my lack of familiarity with C1 jargon, but what's a "banjo"? Assuming that you might be referring to the axle/differential housing, the 59-62 with positraction are interchangeable. The last available part number for this unit was GM #3773006. However, at the moment I can't tell you if that was the same part number originally used as far back as 1959 or a later PRODUCTION part which SERVICES as far back as 1959. I'll be able to provide more info later.
1953 through 1958 are different, but I can't tell you how they are different. I would expect that it's not a major difference. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1961rear banjo
56-61 were essentially identical, except the later ones had brackets on the top for the radius rods, while earlier (56-58) did not. Non-posi units had a breather on the top-- posi units had a fitting and tube on the top and additional baffling inside. 62 units (except for the very early ones) were identical to 59-61, except the drain plug on the bottom was eliminated. Hope that's helpful!- Top
