    Mike,
The fifth character in the serial number of your '75 is J. J is for base engine. It would have been a T if it were a L82.

Hi Tom- I guess my question is really the following: "Did the base engine, L48, have the induction hood with the rochester carburetor aircleaner that seals to the hood."
My '75 is the base engine according to the center console and the VIN# but it has the air induction hood. Of course it also has a fuel regulator and an RV mild cam and it runs pretty darn good. I'm sure quite a bit faster than the stock 165 HP.

      Thanks for your help

        Hi Mike,

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. Been one of those weeks. I'm glad a couple of more knowledgable gentlemen have answered your question. We had a '74 in the family with a non-correct air cleaner once. All of the cowl induction stuff was there but the air cleaner assembly wasn't the one that sealed to the hood. I do know that '73-'75 all engines used the same basic air cleaner and I found the seal to the hood in the parts book. Although the '73-'74 use the same part number, there are 2 different ones for '75.

The thing I find that has me scratching my head is the '75 listings showing 2 different air cleaner assemblies. One says for option K50. I have searched every GM option code index I have and can't find where K50 was ever used for anything. Anyone have any idea what K50 is? Options in the Ks are usually heavy duty air cleaners or cold climate induction systems; things like that.
