    1960 Hood Latches

The hood latches (on the firewall) have always been black since I purchased the car in 1989, but I am wondering if anyone believes that they were already installed before the blackout process and sprayed during the blackout process? I see that all show cars have clean, cadmium plated latches. The horizontal latch nuts on my car are covered with a thick, black tar-like substance and look like they have never been removed, but don't know that for sure.

Judging standard aside, what have C1 owners seen on latches, painted or cadmium plated only? I guess the C1 owner without an unrestored car is the best source of information on this topic.

Joe--that question has been dealt with for many years in the judging manual. They were on the car during the blackout process. Those "all the show cars" either weren't at NCRS shows or lost points if they were.
