Still having windshield scratches

I am still struggling with my windshield. I had originally bought some scratch cleaner at a swap meet with not good results. I replaced it with the Eastwood sratch removal system. When put in direct sunlight at certain angles you can see the patterns of were the pad had been. It is all over the windshield. Otherwise it looks great. What am I doing wrong. How can I get rid of these super fine patterned scratches?

What you're doing wrong is expecting perfection. Anything that is abrasive (cerium oxide, dust and dirt, leaves...) will cause imperfections is the glass. Polishing the glass abrades the surface and the only way to remove polishing scratches is to use progressively finer media. You would find that there isn't enough time in the world to bring auto glass to its "as floated" condition. There will only be a brief momement in a car's life where it will have perfectly clear glass and that's when it's going down the assembly line. You should be satisfied with a clear line-of-sight and no optical distortions.

Any surface will show flaws if you pick the right angle under the right lighting conditions. You always have to settle on a threshold of comfort for these things.
