I just helped a friend drop his '64 ragtop onto his completely restored frame. The drivers side door lines up nicely, but there are significant vertical gaps [1/4" to 3/8"] between the front of the door, rear of the door and the body. The passenger side is completely different - there is virtually no clearance at the rear of the door, as paint is chipped every time the door closes. There is no room to slide the door forward - it is already very tight up front. Can adding additional shims on this side of the car help ? Can all of the mounts be loosened and with the help of 4-5 people shift the car a quarter inch ? Sand the leading edge of the door to fit ? Thanks for any advice.
