I understand that the AC Delco A353C air filter has been discontinued. Does anyone have a replacement number or a comparable fit from one of the other manufacturers? Thanks in advance.

Tom-----
As far as I know, the AC A353C air filter element has not been discontinued. However, it is possible that it's been very recently discontinued (like within the last 14 days, or so). Even so, if it has been discontinued through the GM parts system, it may still be available through Delco.
Although my information does not show it to be discontinued, I'm actually surprised that it's still around. This filter element which has been used as a SERVICE-only replacement for 63-65 Corvettes for many years has VERY limited application. The only other application that I know of is for a 1967 Cadillac. I don't expect that represents much of a market, anymore. I doubt that DELPHI Corporation which manufactures GM's filters these days is going to be too interested in continuing the manufacture of an item like this.
If it is discontinued (or WHEN it's discontinued which is almost a sure bet if it hasn't already been so), finding replacements is going to be tough. Neither Fram or Purolator make an equivalent of this filter. And, if those two brands don't, I would not expect that any other brands will.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Tom-----
I did locate an alternate filter for the 63-65 Corvette application. The WIX Products Division of Dana Corporation makes a filter. It is available under WIX part number 42070. WIX makes very high quality filters and are among the best available anywhere. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I've heard from several folks who have tried the WIX #42070 and report that it's too thick to use in the Corvette application. So, I guess that means that the AC A353C is the only game in town.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1963 340 HP Air Filter
If application is for show, both Paragon and Chicago Corvette catalogs (I suspect others too) provide both foam and paper style filters for this application in the $12-16 range. If need is for a 'driver' application, why not try a K&N cleanable/reusable filter?- Top

Good suggestion, Jack, but I don't think that K&N makes a filter for this application. Would be glad to hear otherwise. I was one of those people that found the Wix wouldn't work. What are all those 63 - 65 chrome air cleaners hiding??!! Inquiring minds want to know!!- Top
