    60 Fresh Air Hose

Does anyone know a source for the fresh air hose on a 60 model. According to the judging manual it is supposed to have 5/8 to 3/4 inch between the coils. I've been unable to locate the proper hose. All the ones you find have around 3/8 inch between them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The hose I bought last year from Corvette Central was 3/8 pitch.

The hose I bought this year from Dr. Rebuild, advertised as "NOS" and "original" and at a new price double that in the catalog, was virtually identical with 3/8 pitch.

There were three different styles of hoses used in C1 production. Today there is only one source for a reproduction hose. That's the part carried by all vendors. It is close to the original and will pass judging as a rule. The trick is to cut eight to ten inches off it.

As supplied this hose will droop in the center and is obviously too long. If you stretch it out such that it just does the job with very little slack, the spacing between ribs will be at a maximum.

I don't trust some absolutes contained in the judging manual such as the measurement from one rib to the next. Two people measuring the same dimension will get two different results. It's best to compare your hose with a picture of an original. The goal is to present a component whose APPEARANCE is typical of factory production.

          Dale.
