I have replacement weatherstripping for my soft top. The replacments sandwich the weatherstrip between the top frame and a strip of metal. The original weatherstripping had metal pieces molded in. I have the original metal pieces. Would I be better off gluing the new weatherstrip to the old metal pieces or just use the new ones?
I am sure someone else has had this question/dilema.
Dave,
Know exactly what you mean. I spent lots of time modifying my w/s to look exactly as the original '56's did. Lots of "noodling" work!! Part of the solution is to solder headless machine screws to the steel strips. Place the steel strips on the rubber w/s and cover it all with Bowdrill from Steel. We could bore the whole NDB membership with this how to do, suggest you contact me off line. Regards,
