    C2 Radiator mount shim finish

The body mount shims under the radiator support are welded in on my 67. Should these then be painted black as the frame is, or would they be cad/zinc plated with weld marks exposed? Were these welded shims possibly hand sprayed before the body drop? The remainder of the shims are natural.
    Thanks
    Steve

The same condition exists on my 65 coupe. I always assumed that the welded shims were placed there by a former owner and subsequently painted in a prior restoration.

Roy, I have read in some corvette manuals they were sometimes welded in place.....Were yours also painted?

          Hi!
On page # 143 of the 1965 Gudging Guide, body mount shims. Front frame horns typically used welded-on-unplated, cadmium, or zink plated shims.

          Hope this helps!
