I'm preparing to assemble my new Al Knoch door panels to my 60. The previous were of a "custom" variety, so the assembly and mounting weren't correct. A couple of questions for those that have done this before.
The door panels have the hole for the window crank cut out in the backer board, but not in the trim metal. I assume this is to allow me to make the cutout for best location to the crank shaft (big assumption), or do I simply cut it out to the same diameter as the hole in the backer board. What's the best method of cutting that trim material without distorting it? I also have to make the cut in the vinyl for the door lock shaft.
Please let me know if there's a subtle, but significant point that I may be missing in regards to these not being precut from Al Knoch before I screw them up.
Also, regarding the assembly of the spring and assembly for the door crank: I received one plastic "backer/support" washer to assemble with the crank spring. In the AIM it appears that there may be one located on each side of the spring. Can anyone advise?
Thanks as usual... the complete restoration of my interior including windshield is nearing completion thanks to the excellent NCRS resources.
