    KNOCK OFF WHEELS

I have just purchased a used set of knockoffs and want to refinish them. I have gone through the archives and found where they refer to using CAST BLAST paint for refinishing them. Is this the paint sold by Corvette Central and Eastwoods for painting Cast Iron parts to resemble original condition? What about the Charcoal Grey used on the hubcaps for 65 cars? The other question I have, is there a special nut used to hold the adapters on the car? Do you use the same as used to hold a regular steel wheel on?
    Thanks in advance

    Re: KNOCK OFF WHEELS

Congratulations on your purchase. If these wheels are original- I would be careful to research the best way to restore them and would recommend your contacting Dennis Portka - Corvette KO Wheel Restoration (716-649-0921). The fin color is specific to the year of application. For instance a 1966 KO the fins and flange are lightly polished natural aluminum satin finish the recessed areas remain roughcast with dark gray metallic paint. The cones are satin finish stainless steel as compared to say a 65 cone, which is bright finish. The lug nuts differ from standard steel wheel nuts, as they are longer. Although you did not ask about safety - Make sure you become familiar with the proper installation technique re torquing lug nuts and spinners. Hope this helps.
