would it be possible to put my 1969 427b/b and m21 trans into a 1964 auto(327 w/a powerglide)? what would be involved in converting the chasiss to manual trans set-up?

I've never tried it, but I don't think it would be too difficult (compared to stuffing the 427 into a Vega, for instance). Some challenges: the clutch linkage (your '64 frame may need to have a bracket mounted), probably need driveshaft/yoke work (maybe the '69 driveshaft will fit?) not sure if the '64 frame has a dimple on the front crossmember to provide space for the big block's balancer& pulleys, and cooling (the '64s radiator would probably be marginal, especially if it is old). The frame's motor mount might need to be moved -- I don't know.
You might consider modifying the 69 frame to fit the 64 body. This way, you wouldn't have to tweak that (relatively much rarer) 64 frame. Instead of swapping engines, you would be swapping bodies, so to speak. The frames really aren't too different from each other. The rear bumper mount is different, the '69 has an extra brace at the kickup, and the body mounts are probably different. Use 66 BB motor mount shims to get pulley clearance. The intake and carb clearance may become an issue without a BB hood. Add the cross shaft and clutch linkage. Use a 64-66 trans mount shifter. The driveshaft may need a new yoke. Make sure you put the right speedo drive gear in the Muncie before you install it. Get a BB brass radiator. The engine weighs more. If the front is already low, put in BB springs. The BB uses larger diameter exhausts. Hold on to your hat! - Dave- Top

If you still have the 64 frame, shims will not work to get pulley clearance. you will need to cut a large 1/2 moon style slice out of the front crossmember. try and use a 66 up frame for referance. all the 66-67 bb cooling parts can be used, I would swap the core suppoert as well. a big block hood must be used for carb clearance. your frame should allready have the bracket for clutch linkage. powerglide's and muncie's use the same length driveshaft. I recommend getting a 66 or 67 AIM book for parts referances in order to achieve a nice neat swap.- Top

If you plan on doing the swap in the near future, I have an extra front crossmember section. You would only have to cut the top part of the frame and graft this piece in for clearance and it would look somewhat stock.
If you swap the frame with a '68 and up you will run into problems with the height of the body mounts.

In addition to all the mechanical work outlined above, keep in mind that this conversion will not be easily reversible and will forever more reduce the originality of your car.
