    C2 outer window seal mouldings

Hello, Can anyone give advice on where I might find LH/RH outer window
seal mouldings for a '63 coupe without having to give up my first born
child? These are the stainless bead mouldings that have the rubber
seals stapled to them. They seal the outside of the side glass...not
whiskers...outer not inner. I have checked every one of the major
catalogs and I don't think anyone is reproducing them so it looks like
I'll have to check out swap meets, etc. for used ones. Remember, the fun
is in the search! Also, is there a differance between 1963 and 1964-67
mouldings? I should say, what is the differance between 1963 and later
    mouldings?

    Thanks a lot,
    Cliff McComb

    Cliff-----

The 1963 Corvette coupe outer door window molding/seal assemblies were GM #3826867, LH, and GM #3826868, RH. For the 1964 model year, these changed to GM #3840583 and 3840584. For the 1965 model year, the parts changed again to GM #3866479 and GM #3866480. At about the same time the 1963 and 1964 molding/seal assemblies were discontinued and the 1965 PRODUCTION parts became the SERVICE parts for all 63-64 models. The GM #3866479 and GM #3866480 were then used in PRODUCTION for Corvette coupes through the 1967 model year.

I do not know what the differences are between the 63-only (or, for that matter, the 64-only) molding/seal assemblies and the 65-67 PRODUCTION parts.

The seal portion of these assemblies are available in reproduction. However, the metal portion is not. So, if you don't have any part of the assemblies then I think that you're going to have to look for them used. Perhaps someone will be able to tell you how to identify the 63-only from the later style. As far as finding these pieces, I think that if you would accept the 65-67 style pieces (SERVICE for 1963), then your quest will be a lot easier. As hard as even these may be to find, there are a lot more of them "out there" than the earlier style since they were the only ones available in SERVICE from 1965 until they were discontinued.

I ordered a set of the outside rubbers from Long Island Corvette and had to get some tapered head rivets to fasten them to the stainless steel molding.I was working on a 67.

        Cliff,
Paragon Reproduction's Vintage parts has originals. They will cost you an arm and a leg though.
