56 engine color

Looking for a source for "correct red" 1956 Chevy engine color. Prefer a rattle can heat resistant engine enamel that will last.

Available in spray cans "Chevy Engine Red" at most any Corvette mailorder store: ZIP, Corvette Central, etc.

I just went throught the same exercise. It is hard to find. Corvette Central has it in 16oz spray cans for $20.00. I bought a 2qt can from CCI (800) 456-1957 for $22.00. This must be put through a sprayer. Zip products does not have the 56 red.

Chrysler red and Krylon Cherry Red are supposed to be a close matches.

Michael, Dave, Kelly; Thanks for the responses'. I have seen the Chevy red advertised but was unsure if it was a good match. I may compare the Chrysler and Krylon colors with what little color is left on a 56 block I have. I am not sure I trust CC to match up the correct 56 color, though at $20 a 16 oz. can they should be custom matching. I previously used a Ford color but lost points for it being a little too red.
