No serial numbers on the block. Owner says it is a 57 -----?

My book (How to rebuild your small block chevy) identifies it as a 283 used from 1958 to 1961 in trucks and passenger cars.

When someone says---55-56-57, always check for side motormount configuration.

It's not a 57 Corvette. That casting no would be 3731548.
